ThanksGIVING in The Sandbox
The generosity we’ve encountered for Thanksgiving 2012 is simply unparalleled. Our community has shown such selflessness and allowed us to easily exceed our goal of feeding 75 Charlotte families (over 425 people).
One man was so compelled by the mission behind The Sandbox, that he donated 32 turkeys! A 77-year-old woman with her own health challenges donated $10 for our Thanksgiving outreach. Big or small, each donation makes a difference and has catapulted us past our goals.
And, in the words of our recipients:
“We wouldn’t have had a Thanksgiving meal without The Sandbox.”
“I got these groceries at the right time. You don’t know how much I needed this”
“Thank you all for all the Sandbox does to help, I don’t know what we would do without them.”
Plus, with the abundance of food we received we were also able to do two more very cool things:
- We shared with food our partners at the Ronald McDonald House, another local non-profit providing housing and food for families in Charlotte to care for kids in local hospitals.
- We will be able to feed more than 25 families who have requested groceries and basic needs as part of their Christmas Wishlist.
Food Needs On The Rise
As the needs for basic needs like food and housing increases among our families struggling to care for their sick child we appreciate the donation of groceries and monetary gifts throughout the year. It is encouraging to see caring individuals, community groups and businesses lock arms with us this Thanksgiving.
As a thanks for their generosity, we would like to encourage your support of these local businesses:

- Harris Teeter (Ardrey Kell Rd.)
